What does the term “needs,” mean to the average person today, and how does it differ from one person to another?

The word needs describe the necessities, which a human would require in being fully functioning person. When we take a look at the word “needs” from an average person’s perspective, it may have various meanings such as social needs, communication needs and personal needs.
First of all, when we explore the social perspective, it mainly concentrates on acceptance, community and freedom. Acceptance refers to being accepted by others. Example: Participating with situations that are open and accepting of everyone, being accepted by neighbors, Being into a club or group, Feeling loved. A person with a need for acceptance needs to feel they are accepted. Community means having people around. Example: Throwing parties for the slightest reasons, Going to shopping malls or concerts in the intention just to be around with a large group of people. Freedom can be described as being independent: In other words the need to have and choices and to feel in control of making those choices. Example: Feeling free to move around without restrictions, Feeling free to make decisions at work, Making choices about relationships. These are some of the main ways which average people define needs socially.
Secondly, when take a look at it from the communication point of view, it comprises of expression, exchange and interpretation of what people think from what you say. Expression can be defined as the need to be artistic, to be seen, to be heard, to be felt. Example: social avenues via the Internet (social networks), writing books, dancing. When we talk about exchange, it can be basically termed as the need to trade information and knowledge with others in other words, to deliver and receive something that has a value. Example: Participating with others in discussions. Participating in-group works, working with contracts and agreements. These are the things, which average people consider as needs in the form of communication.
Lastly, when we take a look at the personal juncture, the main two focuses are Adventure and power. Adventure can be described as the need for an adrenaline rush, to have new experiences, to have a sense of anticipation about upcoming events. Example: Planning new trips, moving frequently, Being the first to do something, creating new markets. Power is the need to be in a position of authority and responsibility. Example: Managing a company, organizing events, Being a leader and recognized as a leader. Some people consider power as a need as they have a desire towards being “the great one”. These are what people describe as needs from their personal point of view.
In conclusion, I would say that there are different ways in which an average person would define the term needs. However there are an outrageous number of people who consider money as their need as they believe it can fulfill everything. Even though some say that, I strongly support the idea that of it being not money but ways of living a happy life and achieving success.
